Cali Carter has been passionate about all types of animals since she can remember. At 3-years-old, she considered two miniature poodles, "Brandy" and "Whisky" her family. At 5 she collected bugs to learn more about them and save them from being stomped on by other 5-year-olds. Finally at 18 she went fully vegetarian and decided to dedicate her life to animals. The tattoo on her wrist, "Animal Liberation", can give people an idea of where her heart lies. She has devoted time to various areas including the veterinary field, animal shelter environment, dog kennels and an on-line animal lover magazine. She has protested in front of pet shops that sell "puppy mill" puppies, encouraged her friends and family to support vegetarianism, and went on strike against anything affiliated with Michael Vick, including his sponsorship from Nike. With influence of the movie "The Cove", a documentary about the annual dolphin slaughter in Japan, and the show "Whale Wars", Cali has become even more passionate about creatures and wildlife that cannot speak up in regards to their pain, abuse, suffering and habitat loss. This blog provides Cali an avenue to encourage others to support not her cause, but be another "speaker" for the cause of all animals.
Emilie and Sushi
Emilie Chacon has
always been a huge animal lover. Unfortunately, her parents always refuse to
adopt any pet. As soon as she moved in her first apartment, she adopted Shaggy,
a cat that was going to be euthanized. Since then, she knew she will always want
animal presence in her house. That’s why she decided to adopt more.
After
talking to a friend who works in a veterinary clinic, she learned more and more
about animal shelter and the amount of pets that are waiting for a home. This
is why she decided to adopt a cat from there, Cachou.
Now,
she shares a lot of information with people around her about animals, how they
can help, how to treat them correctly. She was always disgusted by the violence
against animals and the cruelty everywhere all around the world to every
species. She hopes she can help those animals by sensitize people to their cause.
